It seems like FX and USA Network led the way on this, with their adult shows since 2017 having plenty of cursing. Plenty of grapic violence as well.

Mr. Robot may have been one of the first basic cable dramas to really be edgy

I started watching TNT's Animal Kingdom and there is graphic violence, hard drug use, and sex scenes (with the nipples blurred out). But they still don't say "fukk".

I wonder which network will be the first to have titties on air.

I remember watching FX shows in the 00s and they said "shyt" all the time, but necer "fukk" which kinda weird to me because it didn't seem natural.

I would say NYPD Blue kind of ushered in the more dark and edgier type drama back in the 90s.

There was a show called Kingpin that aired in early 2000s on NBC I think and it was about cartels. Way ahead of it's time and that's what all these shows are about nowadays. Too bad tbey cancelled it right away but I am sure it would be stuck around in today's climate.

Yeah NYPD blue is the one. They actually would say shyt on the show and one controversial scene they had a women naked and you could see her silhouette in the dark.

Hannibal had a lot of gory shyt that you wouldn't think they would allow on network TV. Speaking of that show with all the streaming networks now why in the hell hasn't someone had the bright idea to finish that series off in the correct way.

There was talk about doing it for a while.

The issue is that the next season was going to be based on Silence of the Lambs, but Lifetime has had the rights for a long ass time with plans to do a show about Clarice in the academy.:francis:

There was a show byke in the 90s called "Profit" that basically started the whole villain protagonist wave too
