I have always been a big fan of the elder scrolls series, and like the idea of an online version so, the other day I took a look at this. It seems to have been badly reviewed which put me off, but most of the reviews I saw were when it first came out. Recently it went 'pay to play', or whatever and no subs, and also it seemed more people liked it so I took another look.
I would have bought it ,but for one thing ,am I alone in thinking the owners of this game , are just trying grab as much money out of people as possible? I know all folks need to make a living but this is to the extreme.
No I have no idea if the prices for the UK version are as expensive as they are in the US, but I was amazed at what I saw on steam. For the standard version it's 50 pounds, now I would be fine paying that price just about, although as a pc gamer I rarely pay over 30 pounds for games,but get this the imperial version is 70 pounds, and you need to pay that price if you want to unlock the imperial race Now ,not a huge deal for me on the face of it, as I always play orcs or nords in elderscrolls. But then I do some further reading, and the company has basically made the imperial race be superior in several areas in fighting , and if you read the forums both the nord and orcs classes are basically not as good. I suppose to encourage people to pay the extra money to ,have the best race,if you are a warrior type. This goes against the other elder scrolls games, as both nord and orc always were the better fighters, the imperial was more of an all round class,.
Then I read, they have put in a kind of subscription that allows you to level faster and gives you in game money, and that is another 9 pounds a month.
So I just wondered if anyone has actually bought this game, do you think its worth the price? Because as someone who works has other expenses, I just recoil at the idea of spending this much for any computer game and really a race behind a paywall? what on earth?
