MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a gunman who fired several rounds at a house that struck a wheelchair-bound woman and her granddaughter, late Friday morning.
According to City of Miami Police, 71-year-old Alamarine Viel was hit twice inside her apartment in the area of Northwest 12th Avenue and 64th Street while she was watching a game show on TV.
"I heard like a firecracker ... then I felt something like hit my head," Viel said. She said one bullet grazed her head and another pierced her shoulder.
Police said they believe a man dressed all in black approached the home and began spraying bullets into the stucco and through the front door using a handgun. The suspect then fled the scene.
Viel's 26-year-old granddaughter was also shot. Investigators said there were other people inside the unit who were not hurt.
The victims were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where the elderly woman underwent surgery. They were later released.
Police responded to calls of shots fired at around 11:30 a.m. Crime scene investigators remained at the scene investigating this shooting.
The barrage of bullets rattled area residents. "When I heard the gunshots, I went and ran in my kitchen, behind my refrigerator," said neighbor Verna King.
Police said the older victim was not the gunman's intended target. "All we know is that the [elderly] victim was not the target," said Miami Police Officer Frederica Burden. "Now we just found out about the 26-year-old. We're not sure if she was a target or if anyone else that was in the house was a target."
Neighbors at the scene said another woman inside the home at the time of the shooting was involved in a love triangle with the suspected shooter. According to Viel, this woman is another granddaughter who, she said, is pregnant with the shooter's baby.
Investigators said that, after interviewing all witnesses, they have a good idea of who the gunman is, but declined to give more details.

Elderly Woman in Wheelchair, Pregnant Woman Shot: Police
Two were injured in a Miami shooting Friday morning, including an elderly woman in a wheelchair, according to Miami Police.
The shooting happened at 1214 Northwest 64th Street, said Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes.
Police said Alamarine Viel, 70, was in her home watching TV when a man wearing a hoodie shot her. Bullet holes in a screen door show the man shot at the house from the outside, but police say she was not the intended target.
Viel suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was in serious condition when she was transported to the hospital, police said.
Her granddaughter, a 26-year-old pregnant woman, was also injured in the shooting.
"We have a second victim that was also shot inside the home, apparently taken to the hospital by a neighbor or other relative on scene," police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said.
Both women were released from the hospital late Friday afternoon.
Relatives said Viel is on kidney dialysis and has had a number of surgeries in the past.
A granddaughter said the shooting may be the result of a love triangle.
"There is some kind of love triangle they got going on with a third party," Tydrika Simmons said.
Several police and rescue units responded to the area following the shooting. The woman's wheelchair remained on the sidewalk as part of the crime scene investigation.
Authorities said they know who the shooting suspect may be and warn that anyone harboring the subject is also subject to arrest. Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers anonymously at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
