Eleven members of a University of Georgia fraternity were charged Thursday with hazing for allegedly beating pledges last week as part of their initiation.

The Athens Banner-Herald reported that UGA police obtained warrants Thursday for 11 members of the Zeta Iota chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.

“We began an investigation after we were provided with information by Student Affairs that someone was possibly injured during a pledge event,” UGA police Chief Jimmy Williamson told the Banner-Herald.

The alleged incident happened Jan. 27 at the home a fraternity member.

“There were a number of activities where pledges were being struck by fists,” Williamson said, adding that while there were some physical injuries, none required medical treatment.

Police notified the members named in the warrants Thursday, and Clarke County Jail records show that nine were booked into the jail late Thursday night on misdemeanor hazing charges, and released on bond early Friday.

Jail records list one of those arrested as being from Lawrenceville.

SMDH, so going to college isn't enough, but you have to get jumped in by these sanctioned gangs in hopes of your resumes getting put on the top of a pile :smh:

I guess they couldn't excel under that pressure. Oh well, stay focused on achievement.
