All those guys outclass Eli.

When mentioning all pros You originally said that Eli’s that he played in the “GOAT QB era”, the implication form that is somehow if you put him in another era he would be winning MVP’s, all pros, and generally stand out more.

Is that what you were implying?
I’m saying that he perhaps could’ve made all-pro second team and stuff like that. Perhaps even win MVP with his 5k yard seasons, 35 tds and stuff like that.

But of course that would be conditional on his team also going 14-2, 15-1 etc. So it’s hard to say.

And while those guys might outclass him in moments, stats wise not so much. But this is the NFL, moments often outweigh stats. And therefore, Eli with his 2 SB drives will be HoF.

The idea of a quarterback going into the hall of fame on the first ballot when he had a .500 record as a starter, had more interceptions thrown than games played, made just 4 pro bowls while never making an all pro team, had a passer rating of just 84, barely completed 60% of his passes, and only made the playoffs 5 times with 3 of those 5 being 1 and done is nuts.

Chris Carter and Terrell Owens both finished their careers 2nd all time in touchdown catches and were top 5 all time in receiving yards and catches at the time their careers ended and they didn’t get in on the first ballot.

Michael Strahan retired 9th all time in sacks with 7 pro bowls, 4 all pro teams, a defensive player of the year award, and was an key leader on the first championship team Eli played on whose defensive line was the biggest reason the giants won that game by holding at the time the highest scoring offense ever to 14 points and he didn’t get in on the first ballot.

Brian Dawkins was a 9 time pro bowler and a 4 time all pro who didn’t go on the first ballot.

Kurt Warner was a 4 time pro bowler, a 2 time all pro, a 2 time mvp, Super Bowl mvp, played in 3 super bowls and led a go ahead or tying touchdown drive in the final 2-3 minutes of all of them and he wasn’t elected on the first ballot.

That receiver from Philadelphia was an 8 time pro bowler with 3 all pros and a championship to go with 1100+ catches, 14,000+ yards, and 120+ touchdowns and he didn’t go on the first ballot.

If he gets in, he needs to wait. There’s players more deserving who haven’t gotten the call yet.

Couldn’t you say that about a lot of QBs who will never sniff the HOF? I think it’s kinda wild how his HOF case is his stats are terrible compared to his actual peers but if you were to transport him 30 years prior he might have been top 4 maybe one year lol.

And it’s not just HOFs, his numbers are mid compared to just default good QBs of his time.

If moments outweighed stats why didn’t eli get in the HOF? He actually wasn’t close according to people in the room.

Correct me if I’m wrong I think the pro bowls were injury replacements too lol

Eli in the 80s is basically Elway.

Eli Manning in the 80s would have taken a heck of a lot more hits, and as inaccurate as he already was, I'd be surprised if he was even as good as Ken O'Brien.

Eli had iconic moments during his Super Bowl runs but outside of that? His career was average-above average.

I’ll always give him his props for slaying the dragon is Tom Brady and Beli 2x toe to toe. I just don’t think he had any standout years individually in the regular season compared to Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers and his older brother that fluffs up his resume.

Because he doesn’t deserve to get in period BUT, those two Super Bowl moments will get him in. When he does enter he better thank Tom Brady and Bill B because if it wasn’t for their dynasty he would never have sniffed the HOF.

Had he defeated Joe Flacco and Big Ben in the Super Bowl we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.

Is there any other player who has ever gotten into the HOF because of a “moment”?

People thought those “moments” would get him in in the first ballot though.

If this was 30-40 years ago I think he gets in but too many younger and modern HOF voters who have access to analytics knows he’s average.
