I don't why it was instituted in the first place, NBA and College Basketball were just fine. You had guys like Kobe, LeBron, KG, TMac, Dwight Howard, etc coming straight out of high school and they became superstars, now sure you had guys like Sebastian Telfair but that comes with the territory. Meanwhile, College Basketball was probably at it's peak in the 90s with teams such as Kentucky, North Carolina, UMass, Duke, Georgetown, Syracuse and players such as Marcus Camby, Antawn Jamison, Jerry Stackhouse, Vince Carter, AI, Shaq, Tim Duncan, and Larry Johnson to name a few and into the 2000s with D-Wade, CP3, Reddikk, and Steph.

If the one and done rule wasn't around, guys like DeAndre Ayton and Marvin Bagley would already be in the league, Joel Embiid would've been in the league a year earlier for example and in turn that would help develop consistency in College Basketball where most guys would probably stay 2-3 years and those less talented guys could develop into stars. Besides paying players, this would be the next step that would help CBB.

Also, if you do get a straight out of high school player that bombs the combine or isn't all that great during the season, you can send him to the G-League, there should be more avenues for young athletes.

The nba g league needs to become a full blown farm system like they have in european / south american soccer. There needs to be academies that kids can go into straight out of HS, and the people in that league need to be earning money. Real money, at least 50K / year to support themselves while playing
