She may not be as popular but she is just as important.
Exactly she knows who she is, but she can’t name the songs cause her music isn’t as popular. So what the fukk are you going on about then?
That’s not what I said.
Aretha Franklin is an r&b founding pioneer and set the template for essentially everybody. You can’t be an r&b singer, eating off her lane, and not who hell she is.
And furthermore, Aretha has plenty hit singles. More than any other female artist in history besides Madonna. Aretha has charted more hits than any other artist you can think of.
Got ten years on her and if put on the spot with no Google I'd probably only be able to rattle off Respect And Natural Woman .
My bad, she is actually more charted than Madonna.
So tell me again how irrelevant Aretha is...?
Wasn't her Era. Can't blame her tbh!
Tbh a lot of the older music I heard growing up. I didn’t know the artist just the song. So I’m pretty sure if she heard the music Ella would probably be like I know that record
i thought every female would atleast know
Aretha - “u make me feel like a natural women”
nikka so what? KRS-One is founding pioneer of hip-hop, you think these new rappers can name 5 songs from him?
Ella Mai was born in 94. She grew up listening to Alicia Keys and Chris Brown, Aretha was 30 years before her time.
Really? Me saying she isn’t as popular as Mike Jack is me saying she’s irrelevant?
Now you’re just being a troll, so I’m done here.
How are you an r&b singer and can’t name three songs by an r&b pioneer who also happens to be the most charted female artist in history??
I don't think her age is a factor. The bigger question is what was her parents playing when she was little. If all she heard coming up was music no older than the '90s, she possibly wouldn't know. Still, Aretha is too much of an icon with iconic songs not to know some of her music.
It’s not an excuse if we don’t care we don’t care
