Eminem Becomes The Second Highest Selling Male Artist (ALL GENRES) Of The SoundScan Era

Eminem is now only behind Garth Brooks in total album sales for a male artist over the last 23 years. According to Billboard, Slim Shady pa##ed country singer George Strait to become the second highest selling male performer since SoundScan started tabulating sales.

Em now has 44.91 million units sold. Strait falls to third on that list with 44.89 million. Brooks leads the way with 69.52 million.

In overall sales for the SoundScan era, the Detroit rapper sits in the sixth spot. Garth Brooks is still number one followed by The Beatles at 2 (65.55 million), Metallica at 3 (54.26 million), Mariah Carey at 4 (54.24 million), and Celine Dion at 5 (52.21 million).
Eminem’s latest project The Marshall Mathers LP 2 has pa##ed the 2 million sales mark. All of his major label solo albums have gone at least double platinum.

Does it matter? It's not like Garth Brooks is respected as the GOAT in country, but he's the highest selling country artist? It's just sales. I remember when The Flintstones was the number one movie in the country. Who remembers it now?

Walter Payton and Hershel Walker and Barry Sanders will always be the GOAT running backs no matter how many other nikkas (or non-nikkas) pass them in records as the game changes. Lack of The Ring doesn't take away from their GOATness for Walker and Sanders. (I guess I should add Emmit Smith, but I'm still bitter when it comes to Jimmy Johnson era Cowboys).

Em has 2 solid albums.....His first 2. Other projects have had a good track here and there mixed in with mostly corny music suited to sell to the Wal-Mart working class of the Midwest and whites who feel like they're Hip and down with HipHop because they buy an Eminem cd.

No knock on his hustle at all. Dude knows his fanbase and been feeding them steadily.

They LOOOOVE his last album. shyt was unlistenable to me.
