I have this weird idea that proposing a basic income and eliminating most (if not all) other forms of welfare could be what propels the Libertarian Party into the mainstream.

But of course that'll never happen because the Libertarian Party sucks.

Would you agree that too a certain extinct, poverty is a state of mind.

Yes & No , I mean being poor is a very real thing (and for sake of this conversation we'll keep it to American poor vs rest of the world poor), what I have started to believe over the years though is that STAYING in a state of poverty for certain individuals is to a certain extent a state of mind . Ive seen it day in and day out at my job, a semi extreme example i saw recently was a young lady whos benefits were going to get taken away because her income had recently increased drastically. I informed her of this and she chose to quit her job, i shyt you not. I think that the welfare system to a certain point encourages life long dependency on the system instead of seeking freedom from it . If you have ever met anyone who is in cycle of poverty that are even at a younger age experts on "the system" and i mean i almost dont blame them .

Apart from the regular things like medicaid , food stamps and child care you can also go get

car registration/ insurance fees paid
mileage reimbursement when your "looking" for a job
furniture paid for
assistance with your utility bills

etc etc

Do you think America would have been more ''socialist'' if the population was 90%+ white?

Yes

another good observation ive made at my job

Single white mothers are seen as "divorcees" , "strong" , "down on there luck" , "independent" . I mean at the end of day and ive said this before reason the welfare system was originally created and am talkin about starting with the "poor" houses in the 1800s was for white women many of which were getting pregnant out of wedlock and the men ( at the time mostly laborers going from town to town) were leaving them so you had all these b*stard children being raised by women who mostly unemployable , hence the modern welfare/system of marriage was created. Ironically they were the original "welfare queens"
