If not this season because of the injuries and the lack of time to gel then next season provided everyone is healthy OKC has no excuse not to go to the Finals. They are deep at every position and they have five quality big men to through at you now. Kanter provides the low post scoring they have needed for years while Mcgary and Adams (who still has a high ceiling) provide the toughness and defense. They are making these moves to show KD they wont sit still and I believe this will play a part in him coming back or not.
