Why would you need to get rid of these holidays? If a kid has two moms or two dads, they can celebrate them both on the same day. This makes no sense.

It should be the parents responsibility to address these issues. That's why they choose to have the family they have. I'm no teacher but I'd find it difficult to explain to a student why she has two dads. Handle it at home and it'll be easier on them.
