You make great points @yseJ. But the bottomline is all the Bucs great defense needed was a reasonably capable offense to win a title and he couldnt get it done. Despite a full five years with that great defense. He thought he could do the bare minimum on offense and win, even with the emergence of the Greatest Show on Turf and being a Steeler he shouldve known that if not for the evolution of Bradshaw as a passer, they dont win those last 2 Superbowls in 78 and 79. I respect the hell out of Dungy. Hes a great defensive mind and talent evaluator but TB had went as far as they could go with him.

Bama ass DC
because his offenses weren't cutting it and the defense didnt peak yet. yes, Dungy had shyt offenses and had shyt OCs running them. thats his fault - I agree- but hes a defensive guy and his job he did real well.

look, Im giving Gruden credit for doing a competent job on offense. BUT. realize that if you put that offense on a team with no great defense a ton of people would complain about dink and dunk and mediocre offensive product.

creating an all-time great defense from scratch is much more difficult than turning a shyt offense into a average/passable offense, especially if you get a vet qb and play wco offense.

Bucs had the 18th highest scoring offense in the league when they won in 02. Guess what they were in 01.15th. 2003-18th 2004-23rd
Gruden ain't shyt.
Espn probably ecstatic in getting him out the booth cause they can bring in someone cheaper. Their budget is probably the reason they've been starting all these rumors of him going to every opening in football for the past 4 years. They tired of paying that muafukka :heh:

Redskins thought they were gonna be back to 81 when Gibbs came back from Nascar and found out it aint that easy to capture the magic again..

"Gruden acknowledged his candidacy for the Raiders head coaching job Tuesday in a phone interview with the Bay Area News Group. “My understanding is they’re interviewing candidates this week and they’re going to let everybody know sometime early next week or whenever they make their decision,” Gruden said. Asked specifically if he was a candidate, Gruden said, “Well, I think I am being considered, yes. I hope I’m a candidate.”
