Wasn't it more Magic though that lead the way for athletes to get money outside of sports. Most of the known money MJ made was all basketball related. Magic really started the business aspect of stepping into other avenues.I feel that this part about MJ often gets overlooked
That's a good point. I can't fact check ATM but I think Magic might have taken Mike's lead but expanded out of the basketball realm

Don't get it twisted I still got Mike as by far the #1 most influential. He was the first probably in all of sports to build a brand of himself. Such a brand that he didn't need to worry about expanding into other areas if he didn't want to and the first to take it to the level of owning a team.
