In the end it was a great game but bad MGS game.

I would've preferred a stronger story and cut to the chase design that ended around 30 hours. The Motherbase stuff and side ops could've been left for side ops. They basically stretched the story thin with lots of filler to mask the game length.

You see the thing here is this game truly offers emergent gameplay with a world that's designed around that sort of gameplay philosophy. It's why you got this big ass over world that's seemingly empty but then you realize the enemy bases and mission areas are in that same world so it offers a gigantic playing field with truly MANY ways to tackle it. I haven't yet felt like the game "forced" me to beat a mission one way or the other. I just did what i felt like doing and if it worked it worked. Mission 6's level(I'm still on it right now) is truly a testament to this as it is literally HUGE. I spent at least 40 minutes playing around with the guards near the bridge area. I then decided to back out a bit and then go under the bridge and take a few dudes out and leave the bridge intact. Disabled some comms and whatnot and now i'm NOW heading towards my mission objective area. Any other game would've had you in a tiny level with predetermined paths that says "Go here and do this" and it has to be done that way or else mission fail. Not to mention this is not even counting the time of day, tools you've got, weather etc that also plays a role. :wow:

The game play makes simple objectives so good. A simple "destroy this " mission plays out so crazy.

Well thats you. I already prefer this to snake eater by far. This feels like Snake Eater evolved so far.
And you're really early in the game too. I think nostalgia is clouding brehs mind. It's like dudes who say GTA SA is better than V knowing damn well SA feels dated and hasn't aged well.
How far are you? Just mission number please. I find this to be an evolution of MGS. I don't get the "this isn't MGS" points.

Not really. It felt like a lazy alternative to some cut scenes. They could've had both.

Codecs were mainly circumstantial and relative to where you at in game. A few codec calls here and there in the game wouldn't infringe upon the "gameplay" people love bringing up.

Some extra scenes wouldn't make the controls laggier or make ADS with guns clunky. A codec call wouldn't make enemy AI dumber or make less weapons available for development. A few codec calls would add some sense of urgency and progression to the story. Some of the codec calls were engaging man.

I just miss the original MGS structure. They deviated FAR too much from the OG formula. I see no reason for it at all. If they had made first chapter slightly shorter and cut out some of the more redundant missions(Like was extracting all these nikkas with important intel that integral?)

In the end, I think there's just a divide among the fans. Some don't really care about the story and "MGS" formula so to them they just want to play the game and then there's the side that loves the story and narrative and they put that first and everything else second. It's mainly a matter of what you're looking for. I think they could've had a way to get both fans happy. I think Motherbase, empty world and redundant missions could've been cut and replaced with more engaging content(story relevant missions and more depth to the world map.) The lack of interior stealth maps was disappointing as hell.

Son I must've died at least twenty fukking times already. shyt is really fukking pissing me off :smh:.

Breh I been doing like 50 different strategies and these fukking laser accurate tanks keep one shotting me. I get as far as when the fukking chopper comes in and I end up dying around there.

Game was amazing man. Despite some flaws here and there, the overall game and it's beefiness was superb when it comes to gameplay and just scope. Gonna go check out these "missing ending" or content stuff I kept hearing about.

I haven't played a game for THIS long and finished it in a while. This game is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than MGS4 imo it's not even funny. MGS4 couldn't even keep me awake half the times I was playing it. This felt very personalized. I liked it alot. I wish DLC would come to wrap up the story bits but all in all I wasn't even disappointed as some dramatic gamers made the ending(s) out to be.

I am not usually on the conspiracy tip but i feel like something is up. The structure of the game is just not kojima. since kojima started using the acts/chapter set up, he always has a prologue, 5 chapters and an epilogue.

1.5 chapters and no epilogue is just kinda weird.

And considering a good portion of the games cutscenes were revealed in this trailer:



which dropped in 2013, just makes me wonder wth were they doing over there to only have 1.5 chapters in this game?


idk man 5 chapters for a game of this size?? You'd have to completely eliminate everything in the game to make it that long. Chapter 1 literally can take up to frigging 60 hours alone.

Man.. I'm already 25 hours deep. I'm loving the new format of listening to cassette tapes while just walking around Motherbase or in the ACC. It feels very.. organic. Like the game feels like it moves at your own pace. I got so much extra shyt to do. I'm gonna go mess around with my staff and do some side ops before moving on.

. The mountains thing is irrelevant in the second map. It's in the first map to make things easier and more focused for the player, I reckon. And it's also not true of certain parts of the first map, eg the Western area.

2. Every single 'collectible' in the game has gameplay impact. Herbs help you make better weapons/upgrades. Diamonds help you pay for upgrades. Materials help you with upgrades and base-building and can be sold. Comms dishes knock out reinforcement calls to other bases. Comms stations knock out all communications to HQ. Anti-air arrays allow you to call in choppers. Invoices let you fast travel. Cassette tapes let you feel like a badass and fill down-time between missions. Posters get you money and can be put on your cardboard box to distract guards.

Let's compare that to most other open world games shall we?

Animus fragments. Do nothing. Riddler trophies. Some are amazing, but most are just there for the sake of it and do nothing. Pigeons in GTAIV. Do nothing. The thousands of notes and stupid pointless side missions in FarCry 4. Do nothing, except rarely a unique weapon which you'll have a better version of anyway.

3. Side ops are not 'filler missions'. They are a) optional b) often really fun even if it's the same objective as an old one and c) help you expand MB/your gear.

Christ man, at this stage it sounds like you just have really heavy confirmation bias and you're complaining for the sake of it.

Play for another 10 hours and get back to us. Your complains seem really, truly insane.

Word this shyt crack. I can't remember the last time I was really into a game like that. I mean I was always playing something but it'd be for short periods of time. This shyt so far has had me playing daily for HOURS like yesterday I must've played from like 4:00PM to 1:30AM (with lil pauses here and there) but straight.
We ain't even had online MP out yet :wow:

I hope Kojima pulls off a kickstarter and comes up with a new IP or something similar to MGS in spirit yet different enough to feel fresh. Develop his own Fox like engine and create another classic :blessed:.
