That era really was the birth of modern tech with its living in the future effect. That and people were getting jacked right and left for wearing those white headphones as a statement.

The underground economy of addicts went from ripping off Alpine decks to snatching iPods instead to feed their habit round my way with a quickness as they were so much in demand that even the dopeman would cash them in then sell them off at a profit.
