What is the obsession with this King of NY title? It just a title that Biggie gave to himself, it was part of his rap persona; no one held it before.
The title should have died with him IMO, I mean is there a new King of Pop now that is MJ gone I know Kanye tired to claim it but that was never gonna work out; I mean will there be a new Queen of Soul when Aretha is no longer with us? I don't think so because you can't replace legends.

You are making no sense. When was there a "Vacancy"? The King of NY are Jay Z and NaS depending on which New Yorker you talk to. On the Streets on NY the King has always been Biggie. How can Kendrick be the King of NY when he hasn't surpassed Biggie, Jay Z or NaS in catalog, success or relevance? You think Kendrick is more popular in NY than those 3 rappers? LOL. Then you have the 2nd Teir of great Rappers in NY that Kendrick has not even surpassed in popularity. You think K Dot has been Bigger than DMX, Ja Rule, 50 Cent. Shoot even Big Pun had a bigger career than K Dot thus far. What's so funny is K Dot isn't even more popular or had more Impact on Hip Hop than THE GAME did. "The Documentary" had more impact for the West than "Good Kid" did. Also since when does a Kingdom stop cause someone grows Old? The Queen of England is old as sh!t now.
You are a King until your are dethrone. Jay Z last album outsold Kendrick's and it was his 17th Release total and 13th solo album. Kendrick does not get love like that on the streets of New York cause he's not from there. So again What is with you guys thinking the King has to be some "New" cat? Being King is about Domination. Kendrick didn't even have the highest selling rap album. He didn't have the most popular singles. So again is Kendrick more poplar than Jay Z? Does Kendrick have better lyrics and has more love on the street than NaS? Nope so why are you playing this stupid game of trying to say he's the King of NY? Again the Legends of New York are laughing at him this is why they won't respond in rhyme cause they would body K Dot. They are doing the kid a favor. As much as I hate this man, Jay-z is still around and relevant and nas is still around dropping classics. So until they stop rapping, no Kendrick no ASAP no whoever is taking the crown from those two. jay-z has the status and mainstream while Nas is the best rapper breathing in the solar system. Kendrick verse wasnt even that hot. He got one great album but lets see anyone of these new rappers have lasting power of Nas or Jay. 20 plus years in the game and still captures the music world by storm. BOTH of them. Nas is the best though.
