AEW wrestler's contracts are expiring pretty soon and as we have seen with Big Swole, Peter Avalon and Lio Rush not all expiring contracts are going to get renewed.

The contracts we know for a fact are coming up soon are Brian Cage, Joey Janela and Marko Stunt.

Other contracts that are likely to be expiring pretty soon too are:

MJF
Angelico
Christopher Daniels (works in talent relations)
Colt Cabana
Frankie Kazarian
Jack Evans
Jake Hagar
Kip Sabian
Luther
Private Party
Michael Nakazawa (works in talent relations - Japan)
Leva Bates - (has an administrative assistant type role)
Serpentico - (works in HR)
Sonny Kiss
Yuka Sakazaki
Capt. Shawn Dean (has an agent role)

Brian Cage is gone.

Marko Stunt is gone.

Not sure about Janela since they gave him a valet recently so that seems to indicate AEW has some type of plan for him but he could end up on a PPA (pay per appearance) deal.

So MJF is not going anywhere and the folks who pull double duty with backstage roles are likely either safe or will go on PPA deals while keeping their backstage gigs.

Private Party is probably safe.

But for the majority of those names I see their contracts expiring and Tony Khan not re-upping them.

Janella seems way more interesting outside of AEW they gotta find a way to translate that. I think he’s valuable.

I fukk w TH2
I consider Angelico to be good enough to be given a midcard singles run but I don't think he or Jack Evans are going to be re-upped.

Besides MJF (who I think is up at 2024), the only ones I’d probably re-sign are Colt and Kazarian only because you do need guys who are still somewhat of a name to take pins on Dynamite :pachaha:

If Private Party have ‘E aspirations, I’d let them go, let them get experience and trained up, and then bring them back when they get released :lolbron:

I'm pretty sure MJF has 2 years left which is why he keeps talking about a bidding war and 2024

Yeah he signed a 5 year in 2019

Believe they actually signed 3 year deals with two year options that could be picked up. Cody elected not to pick up his option due to his reality show, but I think everyone else that signed original deals (MJF, Hangman, Omega, Bucks, Britt Baker, Jericho) all extended their deals.

They could let go of everyone on this list and not miss a beat (BTW is Jack Evans still locked up in a Mexican jail?). Think the only two on this list who might be reupped are Sonny Kiss and Janela. If Luther has a backstage coach role, maybe he'll move into that full time.

If I'm playing EWR I'm cutting/letting go of:

Luther (never should have been hired to begin with, fukk him and Jericho)

Everyone involved with Matt Hardy. Including Matt Hardy, unless they keep him as a backstage talent, no more on camera anything for him. Everyone involved in his stable have been stained and clearly reached their limit of where they're going in the company.

Kazarian, although I'm sure there is value in keeping him backstage, but on screen he's a fukking goober and a loser.

Brian Cage, a bust from the start. He's the kind of guy who really needs very structured booking like TNA did for him to make him look like a star, but even when they were trying he was outshined by everyone in Team Taz and really has never been particularly good, he just has the roid look but can do high spots, too.

Brian Pillman Jr. He's just not good. His in ring stuff is weak, his promos are weak, he doesn't have any of the charisma of his father, but he keeps getting a shot because of the name. I don't think he's progressed at all since he first popped up in MLW, which was very clearly just because of his name and Bauer's hard on for Teddy Hart and Hart Foundation associations. He's had the chance to work and learn from much more experienced and talented guys and just has not risen to their level at all.

Joey Janella, who does not at all work in the AEW format and also sucks, but has something for the indie scene that he can not replicate in AEW.

Kip Sabian, outside of the first couple of shows where they tried to push him hard, he's basically done nothing the entire run and there are 300 dudes on Dark who look and work just like him

Marko Stunt, he made sense at the beginning as some hot indie meme guy and they were signing all those types of guys, but he had a limited shelf life to begin with and was fully replaced by Christian and hasn't even been around for like a year anyway.

I personally would get rid of Jericho, who has more than worn out his welcome and I don't think adds anything to any show he's been on in a long, long time and has consistently been a detriment to any segment he's in since probably early 2020.

If I had to guess, this is who I see sticking around:

MJF will obviously will get re-signed.
Christopher Daniels will stick around as head of talent relations - guessing the contract is for being a wrestler.
Kazarian will probably stick around since he's friends with the Bucks and Daniels and will likely to transition to an agent/trainer.
Private Party will probably get re-signed.
Nakazawa, Leva Bates and Serpentico will stick around in their backstage roles.

The rest will likely be brought back on per appearance deals or just disappear altogether.

This mufukka Jack Evans sandbagged Angelico's career :francis:
