These Ohio State fukkers barely beat Michigan and stay undefeated with a weak schedule, but Auburn beats Bama with a vastly superior schedule with one loss and they don't get in the big game? :comeon::what:

1/3rd of the BCS is the coaches vote
1/3rd is the harris poll vote
1/3rd is the computers

the computer system measures variables like w/l, stregnth of schedule, point differential, etc. It averages these rankings and tosses out outliers.

The coaches, and harris poll voters (eye test) feel that ohio state not losing a game in 24 outings is better than an auburn team that lost to LSU by double digits. The computer system agrees as well.

So

today, ohio state > auburn.

Now,

I know you're going to ignore the logic I responded with and reply with smilies and hyperbole, but thats OK, I think the question deserved a legitimate answer.

...The Harris panel is comprised of former coaches, student-athletes, administrators and media representatives with a goal of 115 participants. ...
My guess is that the people on this Harris Interactive National College Football Poll are making subjective votes rather than objective votes. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a number of people making particular votes after receiving an anonymous envelope filled with cash.

all humans make subjective votes. which is why 1/3rd of the system is the average ranking of 6 computers.

Here are the people in the 2013 Harris Poll. You might recognize some names (then again, YOU might not)

According to the Sagarin rankings...

Ohio State has the 61st toughest schedule.

Florida State has the 66th.

Why you quiet on Florida State?

:comeon:

Alabama has the 48th toughest schedule, so why you give Auburn so much credit for that win? That's only 13 better than OSU. We can run through a whole host of teams that were ranked high once and fell the hell off.

:comeon:

Oh yeah, OSU still plays MSU and Auburn still plays Mizzou, so uh, there's that too.

Season ain't over.

An undefeated Ohio State is not getting jumped by a 1 loss SEC team. They aren't Northern Illinois for God's sake.

a tournament of conference champions is.

not all conference champions are created equal

just have the 8 best teams regardless of conference

it would look something like this

8 South Carolina at 1. Florida State

7 Stanford at 2 Ohio State

6. Okie Light at 3. Auburn

5. Missouri at 4 Alabama
