:mjlol: Whatever indeed.

:hhh:Idiot.

Idiot because I disagree with you and have no issue with "fake news" because I don't feel it's a new invention...

You seem to be terrified of opinions that don't fall in line with your own.

I guess I'll be that then.

So, admittedly, "fake news" has been around since like forever but for some reason you think it's now rising to prominence???
This fear of "fake news" is bogus to me...I'm not a fan of Facebook and other internet outlets censoring more and more. Media is already corporate for the most part. Not a lot of space for true free speech anymore....

This is an article from a conservative news site (I know you're afraid of any opinion that isn't liberal but still a good read anyhow).

FB is directly putting a dispute tag on hoax and conspiracy theorist nonsense. Nothing is getting censored people can choose to ignore it. I've said this before and it's even written in the article in the OP. So stop it.

It's quite amazing how you go off on weird ramblings that have nothing to do with the person you quoted and most of all ignore the larger part of people's posts.

The fear of fake news is bogus to you? Well good for you breh, no-one said you had to fear it.

But when a president elect and now POTUS has repeated fake news/conspiracy theories and given credence to sites like Breitbart and co then it's whole different side to it, nothing to do with fear. You can keep ignoring this point though.

Glad to see you adding in that last bit about being afraid of non-liberal sources. How ridiculous lol.

You keep repeating fear and afraid, are you projecting or something? I don't mention none of that shyt.

Yes the fear of fake news is bogus to me.

You don't know a lot about media history and that's why all this is so fascinating and unprecedented to you.

And you do seem afraid of beliefs that are outside of your own which is the reason I warned you about the source.

As far as Trump giving credence to Breitbart. Bush gave credence to all those talk radio shock jocks back in the day...plus Fox news.

Question, what makes Fox News different from Breitbart?

This is a good read...

Is Facebook's 'disputed' news tag too weak to succeed?
Is Facebook's 'disputed' news tag too weak to succeed?

The new feature allows some users to tag news as fake, and flags certain articles with untrue or misleading information based on the diagnosis of fact-checking sites like Snopes or Politifact. Stories with dubious facts will be marked by Facebook as "disputed," and will be accompanied with a link to an article explaining why, though users will still be allowed to share the stories if they wish.

"The problem is that we are too credulous of news that reinforces our predispositions and too critical of sites that contradict them," Brendan Nyhan, a political scientist at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., told the Monitor in December.

These "echo chambers" of opinion and confirmation bias are nothing new, but the increasing politicization of fake news has only made the problem worse. Before the election, most fake news was aimed toward conservative readers, but since then, there has been a spike in fake news for liberals as well. This proliferation can make it harder for many people to differentiate what information is true, even after being presented with the facts.

"There's a psychological phenomenon called the 'backfire effect' in which people tend to hold on to incorrect beliefs more strongly after being presented with factual information that contradicts those beliefs," says Cohen. "In other words, sometimes when you give people facts to refute misperceptions, it actually makes them more resistant to the truth."

The bold is the main issue I have with all this.

People already have a fear of any opinion that is outside of their own so they will deem something fake or true based on what they want believe...I'm not fan of this...people are going to continue so silo off and added to that now they will be able to fight each other on FB to quash stories they don't want to be true regardless to if they are or not.

You do love assumptions and going off on tangents definitely.

Nothing in your 'assumptions' even relates to whatever I said but assume your armchair psychology is clever and keep repeating it.

Again, FB isn't censoring shyt. A dispute tag stops no-one from reading that source. We've had voters repeat conspiracy theories even when presented with rebuttals and facts so it doesn't matter. Liberals or conservatives. Doesn't stop the president from living in his little bubble either. As shown with the Obama wire-tap and the widespread confusion from liberals and conseratives alike.

Did Bush give the sort of credence Trump has given these sites especially at his rallies and twitter? Has Bush said a sitting president wasn't born in the USA?

This is even relayed in your article. This won't stop shyt, but I love you concern for it though.

This will be the last time I repeat myself and seeing your amazing perceptions of someone on the internet.

Looks like you get there's no difference between Breitbart and Fox News...progress.

About the voter thing...who cares. People believe what they want and voting is driven by emotion. Smart candidates able to connect with people get that and are able to maximize it to their advantage. Hillary Clinton didn't resonate with middle america and she lost the contest based on the rules...

I'm concerned because I see things getting more and more censored on the web.

So in this last election there was a ton of fake news but there were also a TON of fake posters and commentors online. I didn't notice many from Trump's camp, but Hillary Clinton's camp through Correct the Record flooded the internet with paid posters, even on message boards like this, to flood opinions out that didn't resemble the message the Clinton camp wanted.

Imagine this same tactic being used to repeatedly dispute stories that one side deems unfavorable to them...I'm not a fan, very wary of it...

Ain't nothing wrong with posting sourced facts. Can't say the same shyt for these conspiracy theory alt right sites.

Fake news was always here but now it's mainstream and heavily influencing huge amounts of uneducated people.

Ridiculous amount of people believing Obama wasn't born in the USA for one.

Anyway not like this will change anything, they will ignore the disputed tag. Trump stans will ignore facts regardless.
So you believe conspiracy theories sway the election......
