The commentary
The debates
The opinions instead of basic reporting

All have led to the most divisive time in this country since right before the civil war.

it’s to the point where republicans and democrats don’t even know why they hate one another. They just do. Even the colors of the party have become symbols just like bloods and crips.

Even if the other side is right, the other has been brainwashed to disagree no matter what. Which has led to both sides being susceptible to manipulation.

I agree on your main point but it’s because Facebook took a lot of their online ad revenue. The model was
A) Generate clicks on your site
B) Hope people want a paper copy still and watch our network otherwise

Then it became “Why watch the news, there are clips on Facebook?” and the model became

A) Make a presence on Facebook
B) Link your stories directly to Facebook
C) Hope to generate clicks

That’s why you see so many paywalls. Facebook became more a news aggregator than a place to socialize online. The only reason they haven’t destroyed reddit is the ability to be relatively anonymous on that site and how you can just be sectioned off from everyone.

The second part is because of Fox News’ early years (now we can get into how they preferred to be slotted by carriers, but that here nor there) and people being validated by what they heard earlier on Levin, Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, and others. That generates ratings. That’s how people got brainwashed. News networks are like NFL teams. If they see something successful, they will mold their model to fit it in to their system.

Reporting got replaced by access, so while there are still some real reporters, their voices get drowned out by big names and people with access. And those people “report” feelings.

It’s not just Fox News. All of the news networks have vs. segments. Be it the host vs. a Republican/Democract or Democratic pundit vs. Republican pundit.

every network is biased now and it really started during the Bush era after 9/11.

this basically sums up my point

Unfortunately news is a business and their rating keep going up. They won’t change until their audience changes.
