Basically, Spectrum failed to do a proper background check on their employee which would have shown he lied on his resume about his work history. The company also ignored some other transgressions he had on the job. The guy ended up killing this old lady after visiting her home for a service call. The jury awarded the family nearly $8 billion in damages today for the company's negligence in their hiring/supervision practices.
