When y'all say this, what are you talking about? I've seen people on this site describe Kendrick as fake deep and they called TPAB a fake "black militant" album and say it doesn't compare to albums like Fear of a Black Planet or Death Certificate. As far as I know, Kendrick wasn't trying to recreate those albums :yeshrug:

Just because you projected something doesn't mean that was the artists' intent.

Don't think K.Dot is fake woke.

I think he's more of a creative genius than a visionary.

He paints vivid pictures and soundscapes... with words.

He operates on his level for the most part considering his age and where he was raised.

I would label him a conscious rapper. This woke shyt is played out and misleading.

Kendrick Lamar is the definition of fake militant

Edgy Hip Hop for white people
He's never positioned himself as a militant, but what's fake about him?

Like OP said, it's a common criticism but what specifically are yall talking about?

Cause he hasn't been exposed like cube for switching up to the other side

Kendrick "never positioning himself to be a militant though" is an irrelevant point. He's riding that wave that the Hip Hop fanbase views him as, and has modeled his career in that mold

And if you want to engage in the semantic "bu bu bu what is a militant though" conversation, I'm not interested lol

Please tell how. Genuinely curious.

She basically stopped rapping to support her book club and programs for black people in prison
Her whole beef with kendrick and j cole

Was a waste of time cause she tried to call them out for not doing enough during the protest when they were actually there the whole time

Her book club is good, but there's more than one way to make a difference

Kendrick met with Obama to discuss black issues and put money back into the community

Noname just comes off like she has her mind on the wrong thing. Instead of coming together with her peers, she'd rather make assumptions. It's just targeting the wrong people.

Instead of going after rappers, why not focus on the politicians and lobbyists that actually affect our lives. :skip:

But when cole responded she deflected by saying, "All the shyt going on in the world, and you decide to write about me :troll: "

And it's not really accurate to say she stopped rapping to be an activist. She just released an album. Plus, it's not like she had superstar status to begin with :russ:

This is what I'm talking about. When did Kendrick ever portray himself as militant?

Knew it, didn't take long. We're going into the "But what is a militant anyway" conversation :deadrose:

Have you ever considered that may be who he actually is?

Why would a rapper ride a wave that doesn't exist?

If he just wanted fame, wouldn't it have made more sense to drop drake, migos, or lil baby sounding music?

Instead of self depreciating songs like "u" :heh:
