Ive known the current chairman of the FAMU board of trustees for almost a decade (saw her this past weekend) it wasn't a unanimous decision and a couple of key board members were removed with backing from the state board of governors (who control most of the state college system) right before the proposed college President was nominated. The chairwoman and some other board members are attempting to fight the nomination and block the state approval for the position.

This was an external attack facilitated by a few FAMU board members, most of FAMU doesn't want this.

That's one of the drawbacks of FAMU being a state school. I don't know if you all been paying attention, but UF thought they poached the Michigan president Santa Ono and the university's board gleefully approved it, but Dekklantis' state board blocked it because he wasn't MAGA approved. If that happened to the flagship, I'm certain FAMU were told in no uncertain terms that if you don't select a MAGA approved leader then we'll just have to block it. Spooky times for higher education in Florida, shyt in America.

I can speak from experience from an institution that gets government funding, all of them fold. You can fight injustice all you want for a few months until your place of work is on the brink of collapse and laying people off. One good lawsuit and a few halted funds suddenly have a respected name looking at Bolivia.
