Nah. Think one of his pelvic bones pierced his skin......
18 January 1991 during training for the Lauberhorn race, while entering the finish S, Gernot Reinstadler lost control and crashed into safety nets at full speed, where one of his skis became trapped. Reinstadler suffered a pelvic fracture and severe internal injuries. The next day he died.
Reinstadler’s ski got caught in the safety netting, nearly ripping his leg off. The accident caused his abdomen to rip open causing mass blood loss. He died in hospital 12 hours later.
