While he shouldn't have said that to his kids its not always that simple. Once the system and lawyers get involved there a legal implications that could effect things he may have been doing for the kids prior to that.

Cause it sounds they may have also been asking him for money for something and if he is now paying child support then the kids should be asking the mother for money and not going through him directly anymore. That's what the child support is technically for but the woman is probably keeping it for herself if they are still asking the father.

Women are quick to run to the system to ruin a man without caring how it impacts the kids.
