I don't know whats more of a "white american" thing to do than to laugh at a name because of it's unabashed ties to a cultural or ethnic group. Thats what I expect from someone who asks whether black people ever wash their hair or if indian people wipe their butts with their bare hands

For the most part I agree. I do feel as if black women with those names get stereotypes as being dirty, ratchet, nasty how's, and etc. I've met aquanetas, shaundreekas, boniquas, and they were all lovely ladies. People honestly do not choose their names. Some of the most nastiest and rudest women I have ever met had names like laura, Chnthia, Sarah,and etc. At my former job I ran into an old friend from middle school. She has one of those basic names like Sarah, ashley,Jessica,and etc. She was telling me about how she cuts herself,has been popping pills, feels like a failure, and has a second job at Chipotle. She then told me that she had sex with the manager so she could be promoted to assistant manager but he gave the position to her best friend
Then I asked her if that was the only guy she had sex with
