What are your favorite "off brand" sports titles?
"off brand" - Not based on official league endorsement and/or not the premiere league based titles.
I'm not a big sports gamer ...partially because I'm not a big sports guy in general(don't watch or participate)
(I do swim/bike/weight train but that's to stay in shape... neighborhood basketball, football, etc is bout as participatory as I ever got)

Back in the day I was going through a gamespot best of the year list and came across this game and was like
....I'll give it a try.
Played that shyt and got streight hooked it was the first sports game I recall that really captured the feel of boxing like that. No one ever integrated "waist swivel/pivot" like that before.
#2
NBA in the zone
It got more sim like as it went on from 98 and lost it's magic
To understand why the 1st couple "NBA in the zone" were good we have to understand prior knoami B'ball games.
We all know about
But the real antecedent was an arcade game called run and gun.
When NBA in the zone came out it was basically run & gun in 3D. Right in between the outlandishness of NBA Jam and something like NBA Live. Basically Run & Gun was a grounded NBA Jam and that translated well in 3D ...until konami tried to make it all sim
#3
Basically I would always play it on those demo disks back in the day...
.................
...and got hooked
