A continuation of my "Favorite track off a Classic or Great album" threads. On Tuesday I covered Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2" in which "Surgical Gloves" is currently in the lead. Today I will be covering AZ's debut album, "Doe or Die". AZ has always been a phenomenal rapper to me. The man is in my top 10:manny: His classic verses with Nas as well as his underrated catalogue solidifies him on my list. When AZ dropped one of the goat verses on Nas' "Life's a bytch" the demand for an AZ album was off the charts. When the time came, AZ did not disappoint. The man dropped a personal & a mafioso classic in my opinion:manny:. I thought it was almost like a diet Illmatic & I mean it in a good way :whoa:because as we know it Illmatic is pretty much the bible of Hip-Hop, the holy grail, the goat album:ahh:. I look at DoD & Illmatic as two sides of the same coin. I copped this album day one. I was probably the only one too over here in Cali. Any Cali brehs fukk with AZ?:mjcry: Do or Die is one of my go to albums during the summer. So it's definitely going to get a lot of burn these next few months:blessed: "Pieces of a Man" was another dope album that I will definitely cover tomorrow. Underrated album. Right now as we speak AZ is working on DoD2 but that was announced a few years back:martin: But who knows, maybe it will be OB4CL2 status & exceed our expectations. Where's that Nas & AZ collab album though?:mjcry:
Favorite track on here has to be "Gimmie Yours" in my opinion one of my favorite songs of all time. While the albums gets more play from me during the summer, this song gets play all the time.:banderas: Pete Rock with another classic beat:banderas: Nas on the chorus
"Gimme, just gimme, for the NYC
Gimme what you can't get back
Gimme, why don't you gimme the world
Gimme what you can't get back, for the five burroughs"
:ahh::mjcry:
The song is a perfect song to go to sleep to.
What's your favorite track from the album? & if you can, explain.

Jigga with the Roley and the Vest
Over time "gimme yours" has turned into my fav track off this album.

it's hard to show resistance when money-gettin nikkas
need my assistance
to stack figures, beyond non-existence
fukk keepin my distance,
cause bein poor produced persistence
Plus please
a hundred G's, will have me blocking out a jail sentence
I'm recognized by the illest of individuals
Killers and criminals, even willies that's really into jewels
But still sceptic on who I cling to
Cos every single nikka that swing through
ain't my man just cos we mingle too
more snake shyt,
even females be feedin off that fake shyt
Filled with envy and hatred but my high helps me escape it
Temporarily,
though it don't worry me
The wise verbally nourish me, properly with that inner city, urban GC
I fukk with those beyond my age bracket
Cos they analyze and map it, get the papers and stack it
Leavin no trace to track it, keep on thinkin tappers is accurate
That mack shyt, livin the lifestyle, we feel relaxed with

So much knowledge in that verse..:whew:
