The new report adds ammunition to those opponents, with the inspector general concluding that no major cases have been broken by use of the Patriot Act’s records-snooping provisions.

“The agents we interviewed did not identify any major case developments that resulted from use of the records obtained in response to Section 215 orders,” the inspector general concluded

What a surprise.

It was just a way to gather information on citizens and using national security as a guise works 9/10 times for legislators. Fact is, intelligence services were and are strong enough as it is..and "snooped" anyway..it was just for express legal reasons..which in and of itself is completely bullshyt because the NSA/CIA/FBI aren't going to fully cooperate with any court system regardless of what laws are passed or lawsuits are filed.
