The FBI themselves was involved. Spreading the rumors of infidelity didn't work(FBI only confirmed source and they were openly anti MLK, no women ever came forward) so they resorted to bullets.

Side note, MLK the only man in history to only be accused of cheating exclusively by men. unless he was fukking them or their girls i must be missing something.
