Then no one actually owns anything if the possibility of a more powerful force can hypothetically just take what you have and that means it was never actually yours. That goes for anyone, group, government that’s ever existed by that logic.Natives were very lucky to get what they got
Like, most people will agree reparations will probably never happen
America took their shyt and let them have a few places that they can call their own, within America
If someone steals your car or breaks into your house you call call the police because it falls within the system
But if this land is YOURS, but only YOURS within the land of ppl who took your whole shyt from you, and they can rescind it any time...its not really yours
Is it bad that America is doing this? Yes, but I find the whole shyt ridiculous
We took your shyt but we're willing to give pieces of it back
I'm not speaking from a moral standpoint

"Twin River, the operator of the two Rhode Island casinos, also hired Matthew Schlapp, a conservative activist and vocal Trump supporter, to lobby for the company on the issue of the Mashpee Wampanoag reservation, as The Washington Post reported after Trump spoke out against the bill. Schlapp’s wife, Mercedes Schlapp, was Trump’s strategic communications director at the time. However, Schlapp said his wife played “no role” in his advocacy."

that doesnt really sound sketchy to me, maybe just like a bad business idea. from what i know in general these reservations often dont have a lot of good opportunities to make money and use these casinos to fund public services and improve infrastructure so i understand why they would want one - even if its prospects for success are poor. whether the casino should actually be approved is a different topic because it effects other people, but revoking the reservation status is an extremely harsh responseSketchy but so is the Mashpee tribes play here. They're not in it for the recognition or their ancestral homelands. They want a billion dollar casino in Taunton, MA which is retarded in itself because it will fail with the quickness. These guys saw what the CT tribe did with creating Foxwoods and they wanted a piece of the action. Unfortunately, theres been 3+ new casinos put in place since all of this started. Foxwoods used to be the only casino in New England. Now theres a casino in RI, one in western MA and one right in Boston. The Boston casino is going to fail within 3 years. Western MA will follow suit. They should have left Foxwoods as the only casino cuz now they've split the populace and no one place will ever get enough business to stay in business.
