Sanya Richards-Ross carried off track with injury

Olympic 400m champion Sanya Richards-Ross was carried off the track after pulling up midway through a 100m race, grabbing her upper right leg at an American Track League meet in Atlanta on Saturday.

“Sanya’s physio has recommended that we get an MRI to confirm what seems to be an injury to her right hamstring,” Richards-Ross’ agent said in an email.

Forty minutes later, Olympic 400m bronze medalist DeeDee Trotter also lay on the track, receiving treatment due to an asthma attack, analyst Adam Nelson saidon ESPN2.

Later, two-time Olympian Lolo Jones said she decided not to race due to an unspecified injury. Jones, who last competed Feb. 14 and withdrew from an April meet due to a tweaked hamstring, said she’s “running out of time” and is in “a dire situation.”

Richards-Ross, a 31-year-old who plans to retire at the end of this Olympic season, said last Saturday that she felt healthy, strong and fast.

That comment came after Richards-Ross finished seventh in a 400m at the Pre Classic in 52.16, well off the time she needs at trials on July 3 to make her fourth Olympic team.
