Most coaches, IMO, utilize the prevent D in the wrong situations. The prevent D should really only be used when:
It's the very last play of the game and there won't be time for another play where the losing team has to go 50 yrs or more to score a TD.
When you know the QB isn't capable of beating you throwing or running the ball. I wouldn't suggest prevent for the top 10 QB's in the league.
When you have a GAWD secondary that can lock down recievers, especially LB's. Bad cover LB's are the main reason the prevent gets exposed in the first place. You have to be able to cover underneath routes.
If these rules are followed, the only way a team wins is if some Music City Miracle fukkeration happens. In that case, players have to make plays.
