After 23 surgeries to look like Superman, ‘Man of Plastic’ meets his Kryptonite

Herbert Chavez, the Superman fanatic who’s undergone 23 surgeries to make himself look more like the Man of Steel, may have discovered his Kryptonite: his doctors.
Over the past 18 years, the Filipino man has spent thousands of dollars in hopes of achieving his goal — liposuction, eye surgery, skin lightening, cheek and jaw augmentation — you name it. “I hope to become the Man of Plastic,” he says.
However, when he appeared on a recent episode of E!’s “Botched” in hopes of obtaining permanent abs of steel, this Superman was confronted by twin Doomsdays in Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif.
According to In Touch Weekly, the plastic surgeons were shocked to discover Chavez had been injecting his chest and abdomen with the filler MesoLipo, which is illegal in the United States. The “poison,” as the physicians called it, has left Chavez with lumps all over his abdominal region, hardly the look he was going for. (“Glutathione and miso lipo are not accepted in the USA for a reason” Nassif tweeted.)
They broke the news to the Man of Steel that the only way to achieve Kryptonian abs is throughdiet and exercise.
Although he doesn’t have Superman’s physique, Chavez may possess one of his idol’s more impressive, if arbitrary, abilities: to turn back time. Here he’s identified as being 37 years old, but he was 35 when we first spotlighted him in 2011.
Regardless of his age or the firmness of his abs, Chavez still soars high with the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Superman memorabilia.
