This matchup isn't exactly even in terms of sheer numbers, 20 plus films over almost 60 years compared to three films over four years, but the impact of those three films (or the first) is pretty damn serious. Both franchises changed the way movies were made, how we thought of good guys and bad guys, and redefined the action genre; Bond did that in the 60s and The Matrix did it at the beginning of the 21st century.

Two enter, one survives.

@hex unstick the other thread and put this one up, if you will.

:whew: that's a hell of a list

I do this the way I argue Wu is the greatest group ever. The complaint is its too many members to compare them to anyone else, so I just pick members out of Wu to go against the contending group. E.g., Bone has five members, so I'd pick five out of Wu go to toe to toe with them.

With Bond, I'd take three movies that dump on the the matrix trilogy.

Casino Royale, From Russia with Love, and for the third, it could be Goldeneye or The Spy Who Loved Me or On Her Majesty's Secret Service or Skyfall, or even Dr. No and that would be all I need.

I respect the vote even if I don't like it, but are you voting for the whole franchise or just one movie? Same question to @FlyRy
Well, I don’t like almost any of the bond films, even if I do respect their influence,so their being a lot of them doesn’t make it better for me. While I don’t think matrix 2 and 3 are great, I think they’re okay. So the level of quality of the matrix franchise for me is better than bond. Because some of those bond films I think are just wretched abortions. :yeshrug:

The only film I can say I would ever watch again is the newer casino royale. I thought wow I can get down with this new bond. Then they immediately went back to shyt. Spectre was Brosnan level nonsense. :francis:

So no love for early Connery Bond? Not Diamonds Are Forever, but Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball. The beauty of the franchise is its adaptability and being able to satisfy any audience member at one point or another. Roger Moore isn't my cup of tea but there are plenty of people who love him. Then there's Dalton's two flicks, or Brosnan or Craig. It's hard to even find two or three Bond fans, like die hard fans, who agree on which movies are the best.

And Spectre has its share of nonsense but it's not Die Another Day nonsense so it's not at Brosnan levels yet:russ:

The minute Craig is kite surfing or driving an invisible car on ice, then I'll be there with you.
