Finding this maxi single made me realize how different we hear songs for the 1st time these days

I hadn't heard Hit Em Up yet til my bro from Chicago came downstate, scooped me up in the box, and told me, "I ain't gonna even talk, just listen to this"

He plays it and I'm like

He was like because he knew how much I liked Biggie(I like Big & Pac equally btw).

I miss being put up on music that way. Now, I can just hop on the coli and look at the numerous threads on songs that haven't even been released yet. Oh, but don't get me wrong, I appreciate that too.

There's just something about consuming music pre-internet

We had a brief.... extremely brief....modern resurgence of this with Drake vs Kendrick last year. More so Kendrick than Drake, who kept soft launching his disses via streamers, Ak, social media, etc but whatever. He gets an E for effort.

I was talking to a couple Gen Z guys I know and they were "they're just dropping music with no warning, this is insane"....I told them pre-internet this was how it was for most songs and albums. Which further blew their minds. They couldn't fathom it.
