Always ask to do your walk through alone. The leasing agents will always try to go with you to make you feel rushed. Once you get there, turn on all appliances to make sure that they're working correctly. Bring your phone and your charger to test all Outlets. Open all the cabinets and look for roach eggs and any signs of pests. Check the carpet and make sure but there aren't any stains. The walkthrough is your main opportunity to get anything fixed before you sign the lease. And most importantly, DON'T SIGN the lease until you complete your walkthrough.

• Heater - check for smell, responsiveness. Is it central or just a wall unit? If you need electric heaters, will the additional utility expense be covered?

• Windows - check for breezes; do all windows lock (or at least those that can be reached from the outside)? how much noise do they let in? for pet owners: are there screens?

• Water heater - how many apartments share it? Where is it located?

• Water - turn on all taps; check how hot, how long it takes to get hot, shower pressure; do sinks back up?

• Stove - doesn't smell, all burners work; gas or electric (I only want gas); suss out age of all appliances

• Potential weekend-wakers: church nearby, early gardeners outside, children, garage door under unit, streetcar/bus line, construction

• Test keys, locks

• Where's the fire escape - is it a clear path? Locate fire alarms, look for extinguishers in common areas. Is a carbon monoxide detector provided/required?

• Noise from above/below/next door

• If pets are allowed: are common areas carpeted? (Could harbor fleas.) How many other pets in the building? [Does your next-door neighbor run a dog-watching business in their unit? Learned this one the hard way.]

• Where can bikes be securely stored? Do they have to be kept in the unit?

• General care and upkeep: are old nails, window hardware painted over a million times? Did previous painters mask the light fixtures, or just paint over them? Indicates they use bargain handyfolk

• Bathroom: needs fan/window/circulation. check for mold.

• # sockets/room; are they grounded (three prong)? general electrical capacity (can I turn on everything and not trip a breaker?)

• Flooring - only hardwood (for me) or general state of carpet (ew)

• Check a heat map of crime in the area

• Why are current tenants leaving? It's always great to be able to talk to them, if you have the opportunity.

Also, get really familiar with your local tenant laws. Check if your potential landlord has been involved in any complaints with the Rent Board.

Take pictures before you move in and save them.

Share WiFi with someone who doesn't seem sus.

Any correspondence with landlord regarding issues should be done over e-mail preferably for record.

As far as the rotation goes, you can get one going whenever you like:yeshrug:

Just don't be running around taking chicks out on dates that you just trying to smash. Maybe a McDonald's or Zaxby's drive-thru every now and again, but nothing more.

When it comes to family, I've always found that honesty is always the best policy. Just tell them to make sure that they call first before coming through. If anybody Knocks on my door and I didn't know beforehand, if it doesn't look like FedEx / UPS, they're going to be left standing outside. It gets to a point where it has to be like that.

Forget messing with cable, if you're somewhat computer / phone savvy, just get you one of these Android boxes. They have all the TV shows, and everything that you need as far as movies and Sports Go.

Go to Goodwill and look around for floor lamps. Try to find some that use regular bulbs. Then get CFL bulbs. They use less electricity than regular bulbs.

What about things I should watch for when I do my walk about before I sign the lease?
Look under the sink in the bathroom and kitchen. Make sure the drain pipe doesn't leak or that it isn't moldy.
Look at the main door entrance's door frame. Make sure there aren't crazy screwdriver dents of someone trying to break into the apartment door. that's a security risk. If the door is damaged, usually, they should have installed a metal plate to the door to prevent future pry jobs.

Should I start an full hoe rotation before I move in or wait till I'm setteled?
I would have to recommend against that. You might meet someone you really like, and you don't want to come off as a player when other women in the rotation run into each other and talk about you.
Woman 1: I met this really hot dude, we hit it off. Let's just we got turnt.
Woman 2: Hee hee. Me too.
Woman 1: Ha ha, I hope it ain't the same dude.
Woman 3: Girl, you crazy.
Woman 2: So what's his name?
Woman 1: Darnell Avery.
Woman 2: Aw hell no. :dahell:
Woman 3: I just started seeing a guy named Darnell Avery. He said I'm the one. :sadbron:

How to deal with nosy ass pepole, family members trying to stop by?
Nosy people? Tell them you are busy. Close the door.
Family members stopping by. Keep your fridge stocked with the bare minimum, i.e. food just enough for you. That prevents a ton of folks coming by eating from your fridge on the daily like you are running a food kitchen for the homeless. If they want to just hang out with you, then that's that. You will have to kick them out on your own terms.

Not even going to try and get cable , wifi the way a brother going(big up to my boy for letting me use his Netflix for past 4 years.)
Ok.
Around 40 days until I move in so this is going to be rush. Money saved already working as much OT as I can.
That's good.

What does relationship advice have to do with a hoe rotation?
It was a sarcastic joke. That's what. Feeding hoes on the rotation with McDonald's or Zaxby's is not relationship advice.
