500 light-years from Earth

:ld:

I mean it's cool and all, but I struggle to care about news on these type of things.
but consider if we start an expedition soon that by the year 4000 we could either be on another planet or find out if life spontaneously evolved there too. We can cut that time in half if we figure out faster than light communications

Similar size and orbital distance, but Kepler-186f's star is cooler and dimmer than our Sun? 2 out 3 ain't bad

With greater advancements in quantum mechanics, such as quantum entanglement, as well as greater understanding of the ability to warp space time it may be possible to explore these places in our lifetime. Just remember breh 50 years ago going to the moon was a dream.

Red dwarf stars make up the majority of stars in our galaxy. We are more likely to find a habitable planet in one of these systems than one of our own. I for one welcome our red dwarf overlords :blessed:

Every 6-8 months another 'potential habitable' planet is found where it 'may' have water and/or 'may' have life.
But will we ever know for sure??
