It's never easy going first especially for reviews but I stayed up until 5am listening to the album over and over so hopefully I got it right. I will continue to update the article as release date approaches with any additional insight I can find but for now here it is : http://rapdose.com/2013/10/02/pusha-t-name-name-album-review

Obviously plenty of discussion about MNIMN going on already, but feel free to refute any of my assessments!

Cheers and thanks for reading.

Good review, props on that. Though I struggle to understand how you gave it a 9.5 when you said you weren't feeling two of the tracks?

Just tried to cop that Mass Appeal bundle but the M tees are all sold out, was gutted didn't even know it existed!

he said the hook

"When “Numbers On The Boards” hit the internet this Spring it was received with open arms. Rolling Stone rated it 4/5 stars stating “The star is Kanye West’s beat, a contusive bass blur with percussion that’s like bamboo sticks on a busted radiator. The result is near-perfect no-bullshyt hip-hop.” Personally, I didn’t like the record at the time and hoped it would grow on me. Up to this point, it still hasn’t. It sounds out of place in Pusha T‘s catalog and it sounds out of place on this album."

"I didn’t really feel “No Regrets.” The hook provided by Kevin Cossom reminds me of something you would hear on one of Pusha’s lead up mixtapes and despite the feature from Jeezy this song just doesn’t have the pop to set me off. It feels like a halfway attempt at getting some radio play. It doesn’t ruin the album by any means, but I could see myself skipping this track frequently. Hey no one’s perfect right?"

Two tracks which based on what he says above aren't dope in his opinion. I'm not saying I agree, as "Numbers On The Boards" got plenty of burn on my side, but I just don't get how he can give an album a 9.5 (Near Flawless) on top of the above analysis, especially on such a short album.

Technically 2 out of 12 tracks missing is only 16.7% off 100. Add points for tracks that are far better than par, like "Suicide" and "SNITCH" and get to my 95% conclusion off the foul shots.

No offense to the reviewer in question but reviews have lost all it's relevancy since labels stopped sending copies to reviewers. People have 1-2 days with an album and drop reviews. You need at least a couple weeks to give a real review.

You need to bump the shyt in the gym, car, rain, sun, catch every single bar, metaphor, concept, look how quick the replay value declines etc. But now you have magazines reviewing shyt after 1 play.

That was a good read.

I personally don't wanna hear Push on some Mase shyt, so i aint feeling that Let Me Love You joint. Big Sean & 2 Chainz completely ruined Who I Am (Push alone on that track would have killed it) and i agree Regrets is trash.

Its a shame about them three, because other than that you got a dam good album.

Kind Push, Numbers on the Boards, Pain, Nostalgia and SNITCH are all excellent tracks. Suicide is dope too, but the feature doesn't do it justice.

Push goes in on Hold on & 40 Acres.

I think your rating is a little high bruh, its too short to have 3 misses and has too many features. I'd probably give it 8, but i've only listened once.

I understand. I WANTED to go first. I was really anticipating the album. Something you have to consider is that a lot of the records were already out.

Prior to the album stream I had already heard "King Push," "Sweet Serenade," "Numbers On The Boards," "Pain," and more so it doesn't take nearly as long to form opinions about the remaining 6 or 7 songs I hadn't already heard since thoughts on the previously released tracks were already concrete.

Although I won't disagree that the project is feature heavy Pusha doesn't get outshined by anyone on his own tracks like in the case of French Montana or Big Sean's recent releases.

I agree but thats not my point.

My point is way too many features who bring nothing to the table. Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Kevin Cossom, Jeezy, Ab Liva, ....thats 7 features that brought nothing to the table.
