Why are people wearing glasses in the 24th century? Fashion? Aesthetics?
Who knows, it is fiction. Have to deal with it. If anything, why is any human at least in the 24th century visibly old? With all of the medical technology they have, should be able to stop or severely slow down aging.

They haven't been able to stop human ageing in Star Trek despite significantly increasing lifespans and quality of life for elderly humans. But they do have all sorts of devices to aid eyesight.

I'm curious to know why people are wearing eyeglasses!

You have technology to travel faster than light speed, replicate matter into different edible and usable forms, have actual intractable virtual reality with holograms and even more but you do not have the technology to make everyone 6 feet? Make everyone look good? No reason why there should be short, ugly, stupid people (or all of them) in the Federation.

You have the technology to cure cancer with a hypospray, grown new organs and fix broken bones in hours but can't help a 5'4" dummy not be bytchless?

And to make this worse, I just remembered Dr. Bashir from DS9 was genetically altered by his parents because he was small and mentally slow, but since the Federation bans it outside of "serious" health defects they had to do it secretly. The Federation would allow that shyt to happen because of some morality shyt but we are not talking about making superhumans, just making sure people were at a certain base level.

"Sorry son, we could of made you have a normal intelligence and height but it is against the law to do it. At least being a Holodeck janitor comes with health benefits."
