HE MOVIE: From cult film documentarian Mark Hartley (Machete Maidens Unleashed!) comes Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films, an upcoming documentary that focuses on Menahem Golan and Yoram GLOBUS , the two head honchos of The Cannon Film Group.

These two Israeli-born, movie-obsessed cousins launched an indie studio that would produce over 120 exploitation films (from Breakin’ to Kickboxer) from 1979-1989. Their passion for cinema changed the way movies were made and marketed. Unfortunately, that same passion ultimately led to the demise of the company they built together.

Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films is expected to be released in 2014. Until then, if you haven’t seen Hartley’s Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation! or Machete Maidens Unleashed!, cityonfire.com urges you to do so!

Updates: The documentary’s official Facebook page teases new interviews with Franco Nero (Enter the Ninja), Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja), Albert Pyun (Cyborg), Sheldon Lettich (writer ofRambo III and Bloodsport), Robert Forster (Delta Force), Lucinda dikkey (Ninja III: The Domination, Breakin’), Michael Chambers (Turbo from Breakin’), Alex Winter (Death Wish 3) and many, many more.

According to the documentary’s official Facebook page, Electric Boogaloo will make its World Premiere on August 2nd 2014, at The Melbourne International Film Festival.
