Female referee Nikkan Lee is at the WWE tryouts taking part in Orlando, Florida this week at the WWE Performance Center.

The 41 year old is the primary referee in Big Japan and is currently the only female referee who works for non-joshi promotions. She is one out of two female referees in Japan currently.

She made her refereeing debut on 29 March 1999 at a match between Mike Samples and Guerrero del Futuro in Ibaraki, Ibaraki.

So, actually this is not the first woman to referee for the WWE/WWF. In the 80s, Rita Chatterton was. Until she claimed she was sexually assaulted in the workplace, and then the McMahons sued her for doing so.
