Ima flip this, but I think we should organize a weekly beat battle. I used to be on the Stones Throw message board and they had one set-up for years, still going so far as I know.

Someone would make a thread with a sample by noon PST on Saturday, they’d also usually put a special rule, or theme, or stipulation regarding what instruments you could use, or what musical production aspects you had to include. Examples: Use outside drums, no vocals, a boom-bap week, must sample multiple songs, etc.

Everyone had til midnight on Thursday to enter their beat in the thread.

On Friday, another thread would be made where everyone would get a vote. Whoever had the most votes by Friday at midnight was that week’s winner and would have until Saturday at noon to make a new thread.

Just a suggestion, might make a thread on it. @TEKBEATZ you're the mod, let me know what you think.

While that sounds innovative, it'll lead to frustration and delays on drops. The thing about this format that works is the fact that folks can create beats without pressure. Thus allowing creative juices to flow and ideas to come for the next thread. It feels like literally a band session with different styles coming to the mix of a sample flips

Yeah I get you, but it’s not like brehs have to put rules in, or can’t flip a beat after the deadline. I just think the weekly beat battles drew a lot of bedroom producers to that forum back in the day, guys like Dibia$e and Jonwayne would show up and give props or even flip the sample sometimes, maybe it could bring more producing brehs to the Tunnel.
