Valesky Barosy has been charged with five counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering and one count of aggravated identity theft. If convicted in connection with his multi-million-dollar coronavirus scam, the 27-year-old suspect faces up to 132 years in prison.
According to an indictment in the case, Barosy, who recently moved to Fort Lauderdale, submitted fraudulent loan applications on behalf of himself and his accomplices. He sought more than $4.2 million through the Payment Protection Program, established during the pandemic to help struggling businesses stay afloat amid tight health restrictions and shutdowns caused by COVID-19
It’s part of the coronavirus relief package passed into federal law back in 2020.

According to the charges, Barosy and co-conspirators were ultimately approved to receive approximately $2.1 million through the loan program. Rather than funnel the funds into their alleged businesses, the group allegedly purchased a slew of luxury items for themselves.
Prosecutor said the application documents were rife with inaccurate information, including the applicant’s prior-year expenses, net profit and payroll, as well as fraudulent IRS tax forms.
