Florida State Trooper Wants Driver's Licensed Gun

I know there is a mix of thoughts on guns up here.

Apparently, because it was visible, the policy (not sure if law) according to officer is that he had to have it taken out the car.

Long story short, driver gets pulled over for going 85 in a 70 according to state trooper, who ask for license and if he has a gun in the vehicle. The driver who apparently has the gun holstered and visible says yes and the he has a permit. The state trooper says he needs the driver to step out the car, so he check the gun for the officer's safety. The driver refuses and ask for captain to come to the scene. He finally hands it over, they check for any issues with gun and they let him go.

edit: you know what this is? one of the biggest problems with police in this country is: they have absolutely no concept of swallowing their fukking pride. absolutely disgusting

Come on man. U know damn well, THAT black man aggressiveness would have came out and then it will be all downhill from there. In a potential volatile situation, tone and approach is everything. That aggression is in our blood and we don't always have the best control of it...hence situations tend to go from bad to worse real quick..if we're gonna discuss then let's keep it honest. I already know i am not capable of being that calm in that situation. Definitely would have escalated with my personality. Still a work in progress as far as temperment and am old as fuvck.


Those were some cool officers based on their mannerisms and interaction..video was a good representation of that department. Bet u they use this video for training purposes..

Well, it all ended without problems.
But, it's like from the driver's point of view, what are you doing with the gun on the seat? You either strap the holster on your body or lock it all in your glove compartment.
From the cop's point of view, he didn't have a trigger finger and kept the situation calm. In reality, getting pulled over for a traffic violation and getting ticketed is an arrest.
He could technically take the person to jail and do all the booking and paperwork. He would get released without bond of course. But every state has laws to release on a summons/citation to save time.
It would have been easier to "talk" him out rather than have his superior come out.
I don't know if a captain came out. That's going way up the chain of command. Sergeant may have come out though.
