New wrestling streaming site. Press release later today. Apparently wwe is in investor. I'm hearing $20 a month for access to see and roh related shows (possibly more)

Edit: topropepress.com

FloSports appears to be on the verge of getting into the professional wrestling game with a new streaming service dedicated to the sport called FloSlam. FloSportshas been contacting a number of top indie wrestling companies over the past months. They want to fold their content into their platform. Based out of Austin, Texas, last week the company released Roku and AppleTV apps to broaden the reach of their streaming platform.

There is not a whole lot of information known today What we do know now seems interesting, to say the least. (And, yes. This was breaking a few weeks ago, but it kind of flew under the radar until this morning)

As of today, there doesn’t appear to be much other than ROH and WWE upcoming events listed on the site (apparently, EVOLVE is part of the package, too). Now, whether this is a beta site (like some have said) or not, FloSlam does currently contain written articles, a partial wrestler database, and a list of upcoming events.

They are asking $20 per month (if paid monthly) or $12.50 ($150.00 paid annyally). The monthly fee will provide subscribers with access to live and video on demand programming, including older events and documentary style features. As of right now, one has to pay up front to fully join/subscribe to the site.

Back in August, FloSports released news of $21.2 million in new funding to expand their operations. WWE was one of the investors. According to the company’s founder and CEO Martin Floreani:

“We want to partner with world-class investors who share our vision to transform sports media. It’s exciting that visionaries in the media and OTT space have backed us to achieve this goal.We are the best direct-to-consumer solution for leagues, governing bodies and independent rights holders to monetize their events. In turn, this allows our company to serve millions of sports fans and supports our mission to grow the sports, the athletes, the events and the fans.”

The company plans to make formal announcements throughout this week as to what independent promotions it has acquired rights to stream the content of. Apparently, if they are streaming with FloSlam, their content will shift exclusively over to them.

This is great news for some of the smaller promotions and their wrestlers. They will have access to a much larger audience for their shows and they will be associated with a huge, big name digital service. Fans will also reap the benefits of having a one-stop-shop for their wrestling viewing needs.

We will have more on this as FloSports starts rolling out the announcements on who they are working with and what we can expect from their service.

If it was from WWE, maybe, so you could at least trust it to not go under in a year.

WWE is officially part of a group of investors in FloSports, a subscription-based sports media company based in Austin, TX.

FloSports announced the round of $21.2 million Series B funding Monday via a press release. Joining WWE in the investment round are Discovery Communications and current investor Causeway Media Partners.

The size of WWE's investment was not disclosed.

Our Dave Meltzer first broke the news of Flo's involvement in the August 1st edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Heavily focused on video, FloSports covers a multitude of different sports including MMA, amateur wrestling, boxing, volleyball, and more through individual websites. The company bolstered their team in 2016 by bringing on familiar MMA media members like Jeremy Botter, Front Row Brian, Duane Finley, and more.

Besides traditional written pieces, Flo streams live events and has also moved in the realm of documentary filmmaking.

WWE has been no stranger into investing in companies in the past like Avid, Tout, and even revivingthe TapOut brand.

UPDATE: The FloSlam website is now open, and you can register “for unlimited access to the best professional wrestling content on the planet.” The service does not name specific promotions, but promises live events, archived events and original documentaries.

The service will cost $150.00 (a one time payment) for the year, or $20.00 a month.

The company has been streaming live sports over the last year; they have also been meeting with independent companies about bringing that content to their platform. Pwinsider.com says that announcements should be coming this week, in regards to companies announcing their shift over to FloSports for streaming events.

The site also adds that there has been some excitement regarding a new money player putting some money into an independent wrestling promotion. They expect more news over the next week or so.

In related news, WWE was part of an investor group for FloSports. The company announced the investor group for the Series B $21.2 million funding. It also includes Discovery Communications and Causeway Media Partners. It’s unknown how much WWE invested.

I'm guessing this site will only feature special events, the library and in house specials will remain the networks draw. People who don't feel the need to rewatch raws from '98 can purchase this for the events and also have access to indie shows. Hardcore wwe fans will buy both so its win win, although $30 a month on wrestling seems a big much but hey, we were all raised spending $40-$60 a month on ppvs

That's not the same thing as being from WWE. Being an investor isn't the same as being the provider.

21.2 mil in series B funding is pretty substantial and I doubt they had to pay a ton of money to acquire content to stream. It's a niche product, but they'll be fine for at least the first couple of years.
