Floyd used 50 when he was in jail. He had 50 saying fukk Oscar De La Hoya and telling him Floyd was starting TMT promotions and was leaving Golden Boy. I look at the start of this vid and see Golden Boy logo. Mayweather promotions doesn't exist and 50 realized it and wanted the money he spent getting TMT promotions started and Floyd refused. I say this with certainty because if Mayweather promotions was a real company then there would be no need for Golden Boy to be involved.
Mayweather promotions is definitely real and licensed and has been promoting fights since before Floyd fought Gatti (RIP). That is for sure. I am not sure if you know how it works. MP promotes lesser name fighters on small stages. That they can do alone. When it comes to a fight on a major stage...like any of Floyd's fights, they need a large promoter with resources to get most of the work done with the TV, venue, gate, fighter purses, etc. Just as important, you need an opponent of magnitude to face which is going to be provided by the co-promoter. MP doesnt have the fighters yet to make an in-house promotion of magnitude. THAT IS WHY GBP is needed. Also, the beginning of the vid shows MP and GBP but not TMT.
50 said Floyd told him to do it and I believe 50. The man doesn't have a track record of lying and is very transparent when it comes to revealing why he severed relationships. In regards to why he didn't move forward with TMT promotions, I'm pretty sure Floyd owns all the intellectual property to that imprint. Floyd never denied 50's accusation btw.
TMT was a new promotional outfit put together to include 50. So in likelihood you would be seen GBP/TMT/MP promotions. You could be correct about FMJ owning intellectual property to TMT but it dont add up considering he still has MP. To me it smells like FMJ helped 50 get into the promotion business in the meantime used all the talk surrounding it to create more excitement...for the present time and the future. Its easier to have 50 in the game with his money and recognition to help build fighters that will one day work in co-promotion with MP/TMT. Actually, it makes more sense to do it that way with GBP gaining such a stronghold and TR and DKP more on the backburner now. I dont think 50 and FMJ are salty at each other at all...I think its all soap opera to keep us tuning in everyday.
I mean 50 would have to be the dumbest smart business man for trying a snake move like that knowing it has zero probability to come off. Look at those figures...$100-200 mil per fight.
No fledgling promoters are going to get that kind of guap without co-promoting with the big guys. They dont even have any fighters in their stables to match against FMJ for that kind of money.
Mayweather is loyal to Haymon for a lot of reasons. He is forever indebted to Haymon for reviving his bank account. Remember, it hasnt even been 5 years ago since Mayweather announced his retirement. During that time his personal items were auctioned off just to pay his taxes from 2007. He nearly signed a 3-fight deal with
behind Ellerbee and Haymon's back because he was so desperate.
I think they are both playing us. I dont see how they would alienate themselves from GBP when FMJ already doesnt want to do biz with TR. Scripts like this are written in Hollywood everyday. I know its a conspiracy theory....I just dont buy the fake beef and I dont buy that 50 is that stupid to try and set up an asinine plan like that.
