By Scott Gilfoid:

Floyd Mayweather Sr. says that Amir Khan is the guy that he wants his son Floyd Jr. to beat more than any other fighter in the sport. Mayweather Sr. doesn’t say why he wants Floyd Jr. to beat Khan of all people, but that’s the guy that he’s hoping that Floyd Jr. can take on next year to shut Khan’s mouth.

Mayweather Sr. doesn’t see Khan getting past IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander if Khan takes that fight. Mayweather Sr. believes Alexander will be too good for Khan, and will come out on top in that match-up.

Mayweather Sr. said to Husleboss.com “If there’s one fighter that I want Floyd to whip his a**, that’s Amir Khan…he ain’t got nothing to be brash about. He’s no outstanding fighter…as long as he stays here, he’s going to keep getting his a** whipped. To be honest, I don’t think he [Khan] will win it [Devon Alexander fight]…I think Devon Alexander is going to shut him down.”

I agree with Mayweather Sr. about Khan continuing to get beaten as long as he stays inside the U.S to fight. Once Golden Boy starts matching him against quality opposition once again, Khan will run into the same problems he experienced in his recent losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.

Golden Boy has taken Khan away from world class opposition in his last two fights since those defeats by putting Khan back on a soft diet in bouts against Carlos Molina and Julio Diaz, both of which Khan beat. But now that Khan is looking to fight Alexander in December, I expect Khan to lose that fight and continue to lose until Golden Boy backs him off once again with the quality match-making, and puts him back in with fodder opposition that they know he can beat.

I’d like to see Khan fight Maywather Jr. too, but the problem is Khan needs at one credible victory in order to get that fight. If the idea is to put Khan in with Devon Alexander next to earn that fight, then I don’t believe Khan will be successful. Golden Boy needs to put Khan in with a toothless old fighter that has a name, but has lost a lot of his skills.

If Golden Boy can match Khan against an old fighter that is recognizable to casual boxing fans, then it would be good for Khan because he can beat an old timer, and earn the fight with Mayweather Jr. Of course, hardcore fans will think it’s a joke, but there are way more casual boxing fans the knowledgeable hardcore fans, and they probably won’t have clue one what they’re seeing if Golden Boy picks out a recognizable fighter in his 40s and tosses him in the ring with Khan.

financially it would be pay off for floyd to fight khan...but it would be a joke..i wouldn't pay for that ppv unless the whole card is stacked..khan struggled with julio fukking diaz..a man with a chinny rep like his own who was also ko'ed in a round in his prime (although i wont ever call juan valenzuela a journeyman like i would prescott..i was a fan of dude)...khan is def looking to cash out

Khan got good offense but his chin is weak. He gets knocked out pretty bad.

The only people for Floyd to fight are Pacquiao and Martinez. After that he should retire.

Nah, assuming he wins his next fight Floyd could fight Garcia. Broner could be an option by the time he finishes up, even though it's very unlikely they fight each other. This is of course assuming he fulfills what's left of his contract (four more fights I believe after this Alvarez one).

I expect his last five to be Alvarez (obviously), Garcia (assuming he wins), Pac (assuming he beats Rios I actually think this fight eventually happens), Khan (I really hope not though), and Devon Alexander (:yeshrug:). This is of course assuming nobody makes any sort of come up over the next year or has a tremendous win or something to change the whole landscape.

I am kinda expecting for the Broner-Mayweather friendship to turn sour because of Broner's ego, though, and think that fight could actually end up being made a year and a half from now or so.

At what weight will he fight old man Martinez ? :laff:

The division he's fighting at now, 154 Jr MW. Hes gonna have now fought at that weight 3 times. Its Martinez's natural weight (as he said that himself) and he already said hed easily and quickly drop back down for a Mayweather fight. No more excuses from Floyd. If he has the courage that SRL, Duran, SRR, and other greats before him had, he could even challenge for the MW title at 160. Or, he could do a catchweight of 155.

Martinez has been sounding very open to fighting Floyd in 2014, he want none of those GGG problems. Since Martinez team and Floyds team are very cordial and have negotiated in the past I dont see why it can't happen, HBO is the only hitch in this plan

Mayweather has always been the goal for Martinez. But Floyd has yet to even acknowledge his existence. He dont want those maravilla problems in his life lol. GGG represents high risk, low reward. Floyd is high risk, higher reward.

He has acknowledged him though.. Hes been quoted saying if Martinez can make 150 lets make the fight happen.. hes also been quoted saying if Martinez moves up to 168 to fight and beat Andre Direll first, then he'd consider it :shaq:

And there is many others, from Sergio own mouth the fight was almost finalized a few times, but never not one bad word from Sergio regarding Floyd, and has stated over and over they'll fight as if they had an agreement at one point in time, Sergio would have definitely got Floyd had he not blew out his knee vs Chavez though, unfortunately Sergio is washed up and if Floyd faced him next year like Sergio wants after he fulfills his obligations to HBO, people will just use that to criticize Floyd fighting a past prime fighter and such............................

Posturing from both sides nothing more, Sergio said he could make 154, and 150 but outright refused Canelo for 154,when the discussions were legit the discussion was a 158 catchweight........

If Sergio holds on to his paper titles after mayweather beats Canelo, expect a showdown with he lineal JMW facing the the lineal middleweight, of course after FMJ faces the lineal lww champ in Garcia after he ko's Matthysse
