This was a mixed bag for me. Its dread-filled atmosphere and trippy visuals pop out as the highlights. On the other hand, the film was a slog to get through and by the time it manages to wake up in the last act, I’m left wondering why we couldn’t get to those heights sooner.

The way FlyLo showed up in this and looked like he hopped off the set of a samurai movie. Everyone else but him was ready for a space expedition apparently. :russ:

Bro should compose for Panos Cosmatos or Brandon Cronenberg. The score here felt like it belonged to a better project and elevated a film whose writing was underbaked. I could see homie wearing his influences loudly in it though. It’s pulling from The Thing, Alien, and Event Horizon, but isn’t doing much else with the concepts.

TLDR: This one should’ve went straight to Shudder.

I'm not familiar with Flying Lotus but I watched this interview and he seems like a genuine bruh. He talks about how hard it is to make a Sci-Fi Horror movie and not think about Alien.

Gore and action was cool. There was one fight that was so dope. The way it was shot was unique. Music set the mode. But the sci-fi and the main influence was so unoriginal.

No idea how y'all are fans of him and didn't see all the promo he did for his other stuff

They were fukking garbage and he hid behind the "I was intentionally trying to make people upset" excuse. Go watch Kuso and tell me with a straight face you're interested in seeing another project from dude :mjlol: literal shock jock content from front to back.

Putting together visuals for music =/= skills to direct a real movie with real production people.

I have worked on TV shows with former music video directors and it was painful, dudes had no fukking clue what they were doing and lean on us to basically do their job while their fans give them all the credit cuz they don't know any better

Hopefully he's learned from his previous experience and doesn't waste peoples time again. Hire real professionals to actually flesh out his ideas

Exactly, it's hilarious how people think skill in on medium means skill in another :laff: and like I said directing is DEFINITELY a job where you can have 0 clue what you're doing, just a marketable name, and everyone else can carry the work for you.

There's a whole nother rant about how a LOT of "directors" are carried by the cinematographer and assistant directors but y'all don't need to hear that, just know that music skill doesn't translate to directing at all
:dead: mans bodied my guy steve.

he's a nepo baby so they might give him another change if this movie is ass. sndtrk prolly fire tho
