So wasn’t the Migos “culturally appropriating” when they made a song about some CAC brand that wasn’t native to their culture or people in the first place.

These luxury brands see us as a clown show. They weren’t made for us and they don’t like the association beyond the revenue it generates.

Stop “appropriating” they shyt then.

This the equivalent to black girls with blonde weaves getting mad at white women with cornrolls.

You can't cultural appropriate European culture cause it's the dominate culture on the planet. That's cultural assimilation when non white do it.

I'm assuming they're talking about Versace, which is white owned, using a Migos song to market their brand. People are really becoming retarded in 2017.
Yh I'm confused. Migos? The Hijab?

I've come to the conclusion that most people(black, white, or otherwise) have no clue what the term "cultural appropriation" actually means; or the events from which it derives in the discourse between cacs and African people.:francis:

Far as I'm concerned people don't even know what cultural appropriation is. The only definition of cultural appropriation that I subscribe to is....

Plagiarism of a cultural group by an individual(s) of another cultural group.

Plagiarize
  • to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own :use (another's production) without crediting the source
  • to commit literary theft :present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
 Definition of PLAGIARIZE

I.E. a person simply doing something in whole or in part from another culture isn't cultural appropriation in and of itself. That only occurs when you don't acknowledge/credit the culture your influences come from.
(I will say that my second definition of cultural appropriation is when you acknowledge the origins but push the originators out of the propagation & maintenance of that cultural product)
